What is a Christian

What is God like?

How can I know?

What might it mean to follow Jesus?

At Pencaitland Church we would love to be of help in answering these questions. There are several ways in which we can help.

Our Sunday Morning and Evening Services take place at 10am and 6.30pm respectively and are a good place to meet people and learn more about what we believe.

Christianity Explored, is a ten-week course designed for anyone seeking answers to these or similar questions. The format is a presentation followed by plenty of opportunity to ask questions in an informal setting. We are beginning a new course in September.

Visit the
Two Ways to Live website which outlines the main points of the Christian message and the choice that we all face in a series of easy-to-understand pages.

Or get hold of one of these books that we recommend.

Basic Christianity by John Stott This book investigates who Jesus was, why he was crucified, whether he rose from the dead and what it really means to be a Christian.

Christianity Explored The Christianity Explored paperback book, written by Rico Tice and Barry Cooper, is a jargon-free introduction to Jesus Christ. Drawing from the book of Mark in the Bible, the book explores who Jesus was, what his aims were, and what it means to follow him. Concise, entertaining and honest, it's an ideal book for anyone with little or no experience of Christianity.

Fresh Start by John Chapman Something is terribly wrong with our world, with relationships, with us. We all sense this at different time. But is there anything that can be done about it? With honesty and humour, John Chapman tells us that God has done something about it. If you have been searching for a book that simply and clearly explains what it means to be a Christian either for your own or another’s benefit, your search is over.
